Performance Today at Curtis

Educating 21st-Century Musicians: Performance Today residency

In October 2014 Curtis hosted American Public Media's Performance Today for a weeklong residency.

Performance Today is America's most popular classical music radio program; the show is broadcast on 292 public radio stations across the country and reaches approximately 1.4 million listeners each week. Highlights of the Curtis residency included recording Young Artist in Residence Steven Lin in Gould Rehearsal Hall, an interactive media training for students with host Fred Child, and a live interview/musical event on October 15.

This special concertfeaturing conversations with Performance Today host Fred Child, Curtis commissions for Curtis On Tour introduced by the composers, and performances by students, faculty, and alumniwas recorded for later broadcast on Performance Today and livestreamed on Curtis Performs.

Excerpts of the October 15 performance will air throughout this season on Performance Today and archival video of the event will also be available on Curtis Performs.

Broadcasts on November 5, 6, and 7, 2014 featured Steven Lin, this year's PT Young Artist in Residence, in dialogue with host Fred Child. Stunning multimedia videos exploring "a day in the life" for Steven at Curtis and his artistry, up close and personal, are available online, along with downloads of the broadcasts.
