Pianist Natalie Zhu Replaces Christoph Eschenbach on Alumni Recital Series November 22

Pianist Natalie Zhu replaces Christoph Eschenbach, who has withdrawn due to a scheduling conflict, on the November 22 Juliette Kang and Friends Alumni Recital Series performance. The revised program will include Mendelssohn’s Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 49 in place of the Mozart piano trio originally scheduled.

Natalie Zhu is the recipient of a 2006 Musical Fund Society Career Advancement Award, 2003 Avery Fisher Career Grant, 2003 Andrew Wolf Memorial Chamber Music Award, and Astral Artistic Services’ 1998 National Auditions. The Philadelphia Inquirer heralded Astral’s presentation of Ms. Zhu in recital as a display of “emotional and pianistic pyrotechnics”; selections from the recital were later broadcast on National Public Radio’s “Performance Today.” Since 2009, Ms. Zhu has been the artistic director of the Kingston Chamber Music Festival in Rhode Island.
