Curtis Mourns the Loss of Irene Goldovsky Wolf, Longtime Curtis supporter

The Curtis Institute of Music mourns the loss of Irene Goldovsky Wolf, who passed away on May 8 at her home in Philadelphia at age 93.

Mrs. Wolf's connections to Curtis were manifold. She was the daughter of concert violinist Lea Luboshutz, who served on Curtis's faculty from 1927 to 1947; and the sister of Boris Goldovsky, who headed the Curtis opera department from 1977 to 1985. Her late son Andrew studied piano at Curtis, graduating in 1966. She served on the board of the Friends of Curtis from 1994 to 2007. Her son, Thomas Wolf, is a Curtis Overseer.

Mrs. Wolf was a generous supporter of Curtis for decades, among many other philanthropic activities in the Philadelphia area. Music education was a particular interest, leading her to help found the Philadelphia chapter of Young Audiences. In Maine, where she spent summers, she helped to establish the Bay Chamber Concerts.

The Curtis Institute of Music extends its heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Wolf's family and friends.
