WHYY Airing New Season of 'On Stage at Curtis'

(November 9, 2012) Tune in to WHYY-TV for the latest season of hand-picked performances from some of the world's finest young classical musicians. New episodes of On Stage at Curtis air every Sunday at 6 p.m. Programs are repeated Wednesdays at 8 p.m. and Fridays at 9 p.m. on Y Arts (digital channel 12.2, Comcast Channel 257, FiOS 474). Rising musicians emerge as leaders of their generation through the Student Recital Series, which offers more than 100 free performances annually. WHYY selects some of the finest for On Stage at Curtis each year, which also includes interviews with the student performers and faculty members.

Highlights of the latest season include graduation recitals by violin, percussion, viola, and horn students; works by Curtis composers; the school's contemporary music ensemble, Curtis 20/21, playing the music of 2011–12 composer-in-residence George Crumb; and performances by guest artists including the Johannes Quartet and Curtis faculty members Roberto Díaz (viola), Jason Vieaux (guitar), David Starobin (guitar), and Elizabeth Hainen (harp).
