PHILADELPHIA, PA--October 29, 2014--Come to Curtis this summer to study with some of the top musicians from around the world, among them Curtis faculty, alumni, Philadelphia Orchestra musicians, and soloists and chamber musicians with thriving careers.

Registration opens today for Curtis Summerfest (, summer programs at Curtis that reflect the school's commitment to expanding advocacy for music and interest in the art form to enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. This summer's offerings include Chamber Music and Orchestra for Adults, Jeffrey Khaner Flute Class, Young Artist Summer Program, and the new, expanded Young Artist Voice and Collaborative Piano Program.

New in 2015, Young Artist Voice and Collaborative Piano Program offers an opportunity to study with top artists in the field, including Mikael Eliasen, artistic director of the Curtis Opera Theatre, and internationally renowned baritone William Stone. The two-week intensive program is designed for singers 17 and older studying vocal performance at the college or graduate level and exceptional pianists committed to the collaborative arts who are studying at the college level or have already completed a bachelor's degree.

Lessons and coachings take place in Lenfest Hall, Curtis's new building tailored for music-making, and in the historic main building at 1726 Locust Street. Spaces are equipped with Steinway pianos throughout. Located in the heart of Center City Philadelphia, Curtis Summerfest also offers residential and dining facilities for out-of-town participants. Connecting with an international community, Curtis Summerfest has already attracted students from seven different countries and across the United States, ranging in age from 12 to 88.

Designed for adult musicians of any level looking to play with fellow enthusiasts, Chamber Music and Orchestra for Adults offers several ways to participate. Join three evening orchestra sessions, three chamber music days, or both. Learn from distinguished faculty and play side-by-side with select Curtis students. Pianists receive personalized instruction through piano studio class. Participants may register as an individual or a pre-formed ensemble.

A week of interactive courses and master classes with Yamaha Artists Jeffrey Khaner, principal flute of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Curtis faculty member, and Mimi Stillman ('99), founder of the Dolce Suono Ensemble. Performers take part in four master classes with Mr. Khaner; while auditors observe all master classes and take part in warm-up class, breathing techniques class, and flute choir.

Collaborative piano program:

A two-week intensive program for singers studying vocal performance at the college or graduate level and exceptional pianists who are committed to the collaborative arts or are considering a specialization in vocal arts. Participants receive personalized attention from faculty of the vocal studies department at the Curtis Institute of Music, including a unique opportunity to gain expertise from professionals working in the opera field, throughout the duration of the course. Singers and pianists rehearse and perform alongside their musical peers in opera scenes, opera workshop and production, interactive classes, daily master classes, collaboration through opera and lieder, and private lessons.

Experience conservatory-style living with a rigorous musical schedule and opportunities to perform alongside musical peers and select Curtis students in an intimate, challenging, and supportive learning environment. The three-week residential program for instrumentalists, composers, conductors, and pianists includes rehearsals, master classes, private instruction, and performances.
