[PDF version]

PHILADELPHIA—November 18, 2016—The Curtis Institute of Music has appointed Larry Bomback as senior vice president of administration, overseeing the school’s administrative affairs and ensuring its financial health. Effective November 1, Mr. Bomback is a member of the senior leadership team that will guide implementation of a new strategic direction driving Curtis toward its centenary in 2024.

Mr. Bomback brings a wealth of expertise in nonprofit management, cost accounting, data analytics, technology development, and strategic planning to Curtis, along with a deep passion for music education and a love of classical music. As Senior Vice President of Administration, he manages finance, control, IT, facilities, legal affairs, and contracts with all outside providers, as well as cross-departmental projects and initiatives. He also oversees the $20 million dollar operating budget, related annual audit, investment of Curtis’s endowment fund, and all other financial matters as well as the assessment of both plans and financial resources needed to maintain and upgrade Curtis’s physical facilities.

He serves as a liaison with the Curtis Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee and manages relationships with other cultural arts organizations.

In his previous position as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of DataArts, Mr. Bomback oversaw the organization's successful transformation from a state-based project of The Pew Charitable Trusts to an independent national arts service organization. Prior to joining DataArts, he served as Director of Finance and Operations at OPERA America, where he managed the organization through a period of tremendous growth that culminated in a $14.5 million capital campaign to design and build the National Opera Center, a 25,000-square-foot performing arts facility in midtown Manhattan.

A graduate of Haverford College and a Philadelphia resident, Mr. Bomback sings tenor in the barbershop quartet ‘Round Midnight; he is also the founder of the Voices of Gotham men’s chorus and an accomplished jazz pianist.
