Life at Curtis

Student life at Curtis has been concentrated across the historic mansions where classes, rehearsals, and performances take place each day -- especially the main building at 1726 Locust Street. September, 2011 marked a new era with the opening of Lenfest Hall at 1616 Locust Street, providing residences to accommodate about half of the student body for the very first time.

Besides student residences, Lenfest Hall  encompasses an expansive dining area for 90 or more people, a guest dining room, and a 3,500 square foot rehearsal space for the Curtis Symphony Orchestra -- customized and accoustically designed with surrounding teaching studios for double bass, percussion, and harp, plus an "atrium" lounge with seating for students and visitors. There are student lockers and large-instrument storage spaces, plus an outdoor terrace, common space lounges, and technology for enhanced learning. This new facility expands the campus to better meet the needs of today's students and offers a modern and exceptional living and learning environment.

The remarkable Curtis faculty and staff are very excited to be part of this defining moment, as Lenfest Hall joins the Curtis campus. This exciting new facility coupled with the historic Curtis buildings offers students a modern yet intimate, personalized environment that continues to make a Curtis education unique among conservatories.
